my first band was the " Cobras" It was 7th grade, I think. Our only gig was a dance recital. First time on stage.
Yes folks, it happened long ago in a Galaxy far far away (Atlanta) before "I Walk the Line" was a movie. I was indeed playing the song already (at age seven) and "Wildwood Flower" as well.
I played in a band called "Strawberry Feeling" in the eighth grade. I believe we only had one gig too!
In the 9th grade I started playing with a band called the "PEPPERMINT SOCIETY" and it lasted til the 11th grade. We stole our suits from Paul Revere and the Raiders. We won more battle of the bands than anyone I know. I first saw Ted Nugent during this time. We got to open show's for one hit wonders Underground Sunshine, and Bubble Puppy, along with now icons, Ted Nugent, and Bob Segar.

" Hippy Nicky and Ted Nugent" Ted was my favorite entertainer at the time. I was about 19 here, and Ted probably 22. I did dive off a stack of amps one night with nothing but 2 rabbit fur flaps covering the goods, emulating Ted!
This is the infamous club where Al Cooper from Blood, Sweat, & Tears came in, jammed with us, and later that night signed the other band on the bill with us.........Lynyrd Skynryd.
this is a historic moment in time!
To the right: My personal coaching from Ted, on how to get feedback on "Loaded for Bear."
Danny Tony Nicky Eddie RIP Dennis
This was a great band, we played Piedmont Park back in the free music day, also Auditoriums, Sports Arenas, opened for Hydra, Skynyrd, Fanny, Rare Earth and others.
Nicky Ford, Eddie Gray RIP, Terry Evans, Keith Christopher, & Twister Townsend RIP
Another version, Hmmmm. How many O.C. versions were there?
Congrats To Keith Christopher who is now the bass player for Lynyrd Skynyrd!!!
The next project for me was "ARMON." I was asked to take David T. Chastains place in the band, made up of Gary "Armon" Fuller RIP, Nicky Ford, Mike Mitchell, Don Brand and Jimmy Pucket. with later version including Jimmy Carson who replaced Mike and Eddie Gray RIP who took Don's place when he left. We were more into originals and our own versions of covers. We opened for Skynyrd, Hydra, Stories, Bloodrock, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Chaka Kahn & Rufus, and Pink Floyd, to name a few. A fine rock n roll outfit with lots of Humble Pie tunes. Gary's voice was similar to Rod Stewart & Steve Marriott's style.

Don Brand left the band early on and Eddie Gray RIP played drums til it's end (1973).
Click the link below for Lynyrd Skynrd dates in their archive. We played other dates with them that do not appear on this chart. This could've been in 1971. for a show with them at Georgia Tech. Eddie Gray RIP (Armon) , and Bob Burns (Skynyrd) Below:.
Discovery Inc. bands Hydra, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Armon, Radar, Younguns, Kudzu, Papa Doc, Choice and another O.C. version without me this time.
